Sapotech taking part in a EU funded project!

SURFCAST, an EU project submitted to the Research Fund for Coal & Steel (RFCS), where Sapotech is taking part, has been approved! This project is lead and coordinated by Swerea MEFOS, a part of the Swedish Research Institute for Industrial Renewal and Sustainable Growth, whose area of expertise is R&D in iron and steelmaking.

The project includes some major steel makers in Europe. It aims to develop online-monitoring systems and numerical models for defects identification in the steel casting process. This will support operators in their decisions, and ultimately enhance process control and productivity.

During this project, Reveal CAST and the Reveal Platform will have a key role. Sapotech will analyse, design and implement new data visualization and control techniques, based on observations in actual casters and requirements identified during production. This is a great opportunity to push our R&D efforts further and at the same time, for the participating steel companies to benefit from our Reveal CAST technology.

RFCS program was initiated back in 2002 to boost safety, efficiency and competitiveness in the European Coal and Steel community. RFCS gives funding of over €50 million every year to the most innovative and cutting-edge projects.
